Half of Americans have an unfavorable view of Romney  -- the highest negative ratings a presidential challenger has had in September within the past three decades.

A recent Bloomberg National Poll reports 49% of likely voters believe Romney is out of touch, as compared to only 40% who believe Obama is. The former Massachusetts governor's negative ratings have made it difficult for him to successfully launch an attack on Obama's vulnerabilities.
