Discussions have been turning toward gun control regulations following the tragic shootings in both Aurora Colorado and then two weeks later a mass shooting at a Sikh temple. In the latest CNN/ORCA poll when asked whether there should be some restrictions on guns or no restrictions at all a resounding majority, 76% said that some gun regulation is needed with only 13% saying no gun regulation is needed. An even smaller number of individuals 10% said no gun should be legal except for firearms carried by the military or police force. These numbers are very consistent when the poll was first asked in 1993, 71% wanted some gun regulations, 6% wanted no gun regulation, and 20% thought firearms should be illegal except for the military and police.
