Fundraising Gap While Large May Not Matter in 2012 Election
Washington Post - 07/12/2012
The Obama campaign raked in around 71 million dollars in fundraising for June, while impressive it was still about 35 million less than the Romney campaign. While the fundraising gap is widening this doesn't guarantee a win. in the 2004 election Kerry outraised President Bush every month after officially becoming the Democratic candidate. A similar story in 1996 with Bob Dole, out raised Bill Clinton by around 100 million. When campaign fundraising has ceased both candidates will have in the area of 700-800 million dollars, more than enough to spread their message throughout America. Therefore it's not who has the most funds but how the candidates can effectively use them.
