Romney May Have Been Involved With Bain Until 2002
Boston Globe - 07/12/2012
A Boston Globe report this morning has called into question Romney's involvement with Bain Capital after 1999. According to financial documents and S.E.C filings Romney was continually listed as chief executive and managing director of Bain Capital as late as 2003. Indeed Romney didn't file a severance package with Bain Capital until 2002. Romney has claimed that he left Bain in 1999 to focus on reviving the Salt Lake City Olympics, however these filings call that into question and show he was earning a salary at Bain for that time. Also if someone was investing at Bain because they believed Mitt Romney was a fund manager this could be ground for misrepresentation by an investor.
Mitt Romney has stated his departure from Bain was in 1999 to distance himself from attacks of bad Bain investments that left companies bankrupt. The Obama campaign has asked for more transparency from Romney urging him to release his tax returns. Romney has not released anything before 2010.
