The 2012 presidential election has been embracing the latest technologies and social media applications to reach audiences both young and old and now the Romney campaign is taking it to the next level. With a campaign announcement on Tuesday supporters can now be the first to learn about who the Republican Vice Presidential nominee is via Smartphone app. The free app can be downloaded on both the iPhone and Android and will instantly notify you once the selection has been made. This move is reminiscent of the Obama campaign's 2008 move to text the Vice Presidential announcement. The Romney app however can provide much more information than campaign supporters phone numbers. Once installed you would grant the App permission to access a number of things, such as user location. This information will provide valuable information most likely used to uniquely construct specific advertising and fundraising efforts based on location.
